Amerisure Recognized for Exemplary Workplace Practices

Amerisure Mutual Insurance Company has been honored with the 2013 Alfred P. Sloan Award for Excellence in Workplace Effectiveness and Flexibility. This is the seventh time Amerisure has received the prestigious award for utilizing flexibility and various aspects of workplace effectiveness as a strategy to increase business and employee success.

“As a recipient of the 2013 Sloan Award, Amerisure ranks among the top 20% of employers nationally in terms of our programs, policies and culture for creating an effective and flexible workplace,” said Angela McBride, Vice President of Human Resources at Amerisure. “What makes this honor so special is that our employees have affirmed our exemplary workplace practices through an independent survey.”

By receiving this award, Amerisure demonstrates workplace flexibility, such as flextime, part-time work and compressed workweeks to benefit employees. Flexibility in combination with other aspects of an effective workplace, including learning opportunities and support for career success, can have a powerful impact on employee engagement and motivation.

“Research from the Families and Work Institute consistently finds that employees in effective and flexible workplaces have greater engagement on the job and the desire to stay with their organization,” noted McBride.

The Sloan Awards are unique for their rigorous, two-step selection process, which involves an evaluation of employers’ flexibility programs and practices, and a confidential employee survey against national norms from the National Study of Employers. The award, which is part of the national When Work Works project administered by the Families and Work Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management, recognizes employers of all sizes and types in Michigan and across the country.
