Craft Beer Film and Special Beer Event

The documentary film “The Michigan Beer Film” is coming to the metro Detroit area in downtown Farmington, MI on February 25th, 2014.  The film has been showing in theaters and special venues across the state since its premiere last fall, and now returns to the metro area to offer craft beer fans an opportunity to see the film at this special event.  The film shows a glimpse inside the lives of Michigan brewers and hop farmers and offers viewers a unique perspective on all of these people’s unique stories in this booming industry.  The film will be showing at the historic Farmington Civic Theater in downtown Farmington.

Together with the film showing will be a special event at John Cowley & Son’s Irish Pub, 2 doors down from the theater.  The event will have special guests for an intimate Q&A session about the film and about the Michigan beer industry.  Rex Halfpenny (Publisher of the monthly Michigan Beer Guide magazine), Trevor Klimek (Brewer from Paw Paw Brewing), and Kevin Romeo (Director of The Michigan Beer Film) will be on hand to talk about the film and answer people’s questions.  This will be an opportunity to not only learn more about craft beer, but specifically about parts of the film that these special guests want to add extra commentary on and provide more of an insider look.

Special arrangements have been made to have Paw Paw Brewing beers on hand at John Cowley & Son’s.  Paw Paw Brewing is a small brewery from the village of Paw Paw, 17 miles west of Kalamazoo.  They started business in 2010 and have been steadily growing ever since, based solely on the merits of their great beers.  While Paw Paw Brewing has grown on the west side of the state, they are just now starting to be introduced to the Southeast Michigan area in bars & pubs.  Attendees of the event have the opportunity to try some of their beers, made available especially for this event.  Paw Paw Brewing is featured in The Michigan Beer Film, and their Brewer, Trevor Klimek, will be on hand to talk about the film and their beer.  In addition, a limited quantity of their bottled beer will be made available at our community sponsors Meadows Fine Wine, and Royal Liquor.
