Southwest Detroit’s Community Health and Social Services Center (CHASS) to host financial literacy classes in partnership with Level One Bank

Community Health and Social Services Center (CHASS) of Southwest Detroit is partnering with Level One Bank to implement a four-part financial literacy course to help the community members prioritize and plan their monthly expenses while saving for the unexpected. The first class took place on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at CHASS of Southwest Detroit.

The four-part course will include classes in grocery budgeting, household expenses, common banking scams, checks vs. money orders and the danger of payday advances. Courses are designed to help the Southwest Detroit community by providing the tools and education necessary to understand the fundamentals of financial management and household budgeting.

“Education is a vital resource to the development of our local communities," said Patrick J. Fehring, President & CEO, Level One Bank. "We hope that our partnership with CHASS will empower families to continue on the path of financial literacy and enable them to make informed decisions for a successful future.”
