A Detroit man was surprised to find his classic American muscle car, stolen more than 30 years ago, found and in near-perfect condition in Mississippi this month.

“I’ve always liked Corvettes,” George Talley told WXYZ, Channel 7.  “It was attractive, the ladies liked them.”

The last time Talley saw his 1979 Corvette was on Detroit's Jefferson Avenue in July 1981. He reported the car stolen and hadn’t seen it since.

Fast-forward to June 2014, and Talley received a call he couldn’t believe.

“I get a call from AAA telling me, ‘You got a Corvette in Mississippi, come and get it,” Talley told Action News.

Not only was the car recovered, but it’s in good working order and has only 47,000 miles.

And the story only gets better. The Associated Press reports that the car's manufacturer General Motors is covering the costs to ship his car back to Detroit.
