Downtown Farmington Scarecrow Contest Registrations Due Sept. 25

Top entries in six categories will be awarded prizes after judging on Oct. 12.

Registrations for the 9th Annual Scarecrow Building Contest, with the theme "All Star Sports", are due Sept. 25
 
Contest entries should reflect a favorite sport, team and/or hero, and the contest is open to individuals and groups in six categories:

  • Adults – 18 + up
  • Teens – ages 12 – 17
  • Children – 11 & under
  • Families
  • Semi Pro (for the ultimate scarecrow builder!)
  • Business
Entry forms can be downloaded at downtownfarmington.org and should be returned to the Farmington Downtown Development Authority Office at 33316 Grand River Ave., Farmington, MI 48336.
 
Completed scarecrows must submitted to the “Scare-Force” Committee by Oct. 5 at the Scarecrow Booth in Riley Park. Scarecrows will be tagged and put on display in Scarecrow Village for the week prior to the judging on Oct. 12. 

Winners will be announced during the Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market at 1 p.m. on Oct. 12. Applicants wishing to have their scarecrow included as part of the Harvest Moon Festival decorations must submit their scarecrows by Sept. 25.
