Farmington Hills Nature Center Offers Winter Programs

The City of Farmington Hills Nature Discovery Center offers these winter programs open to kids ages 7 and older in February:

Winter Survival

Practice the art of fire building, shelter building, orienteering, and tracking. Find out what techniques animals use and how they will work for you, too. Held Feb. 21, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and designed for ages 7 and up. Make sure to dress for the weather and exploring outdoors, as the majority of the program will take place outside. 

Wildlife CSI

Learn how to identify tracks, animal scat, and signs and become a certified Nature Detective. Make your own animal “poo” and animal tracks project to take home. Held Feb. 20 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., this drop-off class is designed for ages 7 to 12. Make sure to dress your child for the weather and exploring outdoors. If your child wishes to make a tracks shirt, please send them with a plain t-shirt to paint.

Cost for each of these events is $5 per person, and pre-registration is strongly recommended at the Costick Center or at http://recreg.fhgov.com.
