Free, Low-Cost Health Screenings Available March 22 at Costick Center

Project Healthy Living offers screenings and tests to adults ages 18 and older.

The Farmington Area Commission on Aging and Botsford Hospital are bringing free and low-cost health screenings to the Costick Center in Farmington Hills March 22, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. 

Project Healthy Living provides an opportunity for adults 18 and older, from any community, to obtain free and low-cost tests and services that include:

  • height
  • weight
  • body composition
  • blood pressure screening
  • hearing and vision screenings
  • balance testing
  • pulmonary function testing
  • foot checks
  • memory screenings
  • counseling and referrals
  • health education
  • bone density tests (9 a.m.-noon)

Blood tests and other screenings performed by Quest Diagnostics include a 26-profile blood test, Hepatitis B, H.Pylori, glycomark, PSA (men), CA-125 (women), C-reactive protein, five profile cereal allergy test and a six profile food allergy test.

Descriptions of these tests and costs are available on the Project Healthy Living website and at the Costick Center. Pre-register and pre-pay at projecthealthyliving.org.

Metropolitan Health Services will provide cardio-vascular screenings that include heart attack and stroke risk, ankle brachial index, electronic stress evaluation, echocardiogram, electrocardiogram and abdominal aorta assessment, all of which can be combined in four different packages to reduce their costs even more. Transportation to this event is available to residents of Farmington and Farmington Hills who are 55 years old or who have a disability. Call 248-473-1864 before March 20.

Project Healthy Living is especially beneficial for those who lack medical insurance coverage or have deductibles. The many free and low cost health screenings may help prevent serious illnesses.
