The Southeastern Michigan branch of the American Red Cross will sponsor a blood drive on Jan. 17 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Costick Center, 28600 W. 11 Mile Road in Farmington Hills.
January is National Blood Donor Month, and it’s historically a difficult time to collect donations due to the cold weather and the demands of the New Year.
“When you resolve to donate blood, you’re changing lives – including your own,” said Diane Ward, CEO for the Southeastern Michigan Blood Services Region. “By getting a start in January, donors have the time for several lifesaving opportunities throughout the year.”
To make an appointment, call 248-473-1800 or register online at redcrossblood.org, with the sponsor code "costickcenter".
Giving blood takes approximately one hour. Donors must be in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be 17 years of age or older. For more information, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org.
