Holocaust Memorial Center Dedicates Anne Frank Tree Exhibit Sunday
The sapling planted at the Farmington Hills museum comes from a tree that gave Anne Frank comfort as she and her family hid from the Nazis.
The Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills will on Sunday dedicate a new Anne Frank exhibit that revolves around a sapling from the actual white chestnut tree that brought Anne Frank solace as she and her family hid from the Nazis during World War II.
Officially opened in a 2 p.m. ceremony, the exhibit also will feature photographs and scrolling quotations from the diary and culminates in a challenge and call to action.
The ceremony will include the announcement and introduction of the donors whose generosity is making this exhibit possible and an interview with Irene Butter, a Holocaust survivor who knew Anne Frank. Hazzan David Propis will perform a musical selection.
The event is open to the public.
