Photographer Loves Capturing Life

Rochester resident and photographer Jeanine Krupp shows her work off on Patch.

You won't find Jeanine Krupp without her camera very often.

She loves photography and it shows in her work, some of which she posts on Patch.

Many interesting people blog on Patch and we want to introduce you to some of them. Each week we will highlight a new Patch blogger.

Today, Krupp, owner of Part of Life Photography, answers our questions.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Livonia and besides going to college at Michigan Tech in Houghton, I have always lived around metro Detroit.

What are your hobbies?

I love being outdoors with my kids and my camera.  Is exploring all of Michigan a hobby?  I consider my nature photography one of my hobbies.  I'm also getting into macro photography.

Favorite book?

Hmm, I don't read much lately beside information on photography and business.

Favorite movie?

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty spoke to me on so many levels.  One of my first dream careers was to be a photographer for Outside Magazine.  What a job Walter had reviewing photographs from around the world.  And of course, it was inspiring to be reminded to go out and live life!

How did you get involved in photography?

My dad was a photographer so we had a darkroom in our house.  I dabbled with it now and then with film and digital, taking classes when I had time.  I came back to photography consistently around 2003 and now I don't go very long without shooting.

What's your single most important piece of advice for amateur photographers?

Experiment!  Time behind the camera is so valuable.

What is your favorite thing to photograph?

I love photographing people.  I love interacting with people, hearing their stories and capturing a part of their life.  I love what the images bring to both the people in the images as well as the people who love them.  I don't have a clear favorite within portrait photography.  I get so wrapped up in my sessions that they are all my favorite while I'm shooting them: from newborns, to children, to high school seniors, to family sessions.
