Reel Problem Cancels Movie at the Farmington Civic
Later this month, officials will consider purchasing a digital projection system for the city-owned theater.
A cancelled showing of the movie 42 at the Farmington Civic Theater on Thursday highlights one advantage of a digital projection system that Farmington city council members may consider purchasing at their June 24 meeting.
Theater manager Scott Freeman said a problem with a pick-up reel sent more than two hours of film onto the projection room floor. This won't be a problem with the digital system, which expected to cost around $150,000 plus installation costs.
Funds for the purchase were included in the city-owned theater's 2013-2014 budget, which officials approved on Monday.
