UPDATED: Storm Leaves More Than 2,500 Farmington Area Residents Without Power

More than 2,500 DTE customers in Farmington and Farmington Hills lost power Thursday, as a line of powerful storms dumped heavy rains across metro Detroit.

The hardest hit areas in Farmington and Farmington Hills were between Orchard Lake and Farmington Roads south of 13 Mile, between Middlebelt and Inkster around 12 Mile, and east of Farmington Road in a swath south of Grand River that extends into Livonia. As of 11 p.m. Thursday, power had been restored south of Grand River. 

Other areas affected are east of Orchard Lake Road north of Nine Mile, east of Middlebelt and north from Northwestern Hwy. into West Bloomfield, and east of Power Road north of Shiawassee. 

By 7:30 a.m. Friday, power had been restored throughout the community, with just a few scattered outages remaining. 

The National Weather Service is predicting a 70 percent chance of rain and storms Friday and a 50-60 percent chance Friday night and Saturday. Temperatures are expected to drop into the mid-70s.
