The third Monday in January—otherwise known as Martin Luther King Jr. Day—can be a day off spent sleeping in and lounging around the house.
But for millions of Americans, it's a day spent volunteering.
Nowhere is that more true than the Farmington area. On Monday, Jan. 21, scores of people will take part in a 9 a.m. walk from Prince of Peace Lutheran Church to the Farmington Community Library. There, in addition to a program of speakers and performers, service opportunities include making valentines for local senior citizens or giving blood.
