Why go: As the last leaves turn and fall, it is a perfect time to take a hayride through beautiful Heritage Park. This Friday is your last chance of the year to enjoy the autumn air on an old-fashioned hayride in the park. Afterwards, you can sip a cup of cider and roast marshmallows over a campfire. Hay Ride Central is definitely one of the perks of autumn in Michigan that you should get out and enjoy.

Where:

When: Saturday at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Why go: It's always a treat to see a live performance in our quaint little theater. On Saturday, Shining Star Performing Arts Academy presents a classic whodunit mystery with an improv twist. You can try to solve the mystery, but with a sprinkle of improv, this show might have you laughing too hard. Each performance will be different as each actor will have to think on the spot as situations occur.

Where: , 37611 W 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills

When: Saturday from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Why go: Oakland County Commissioner Bill Dwyer represents the 14th District, which includes all of Farmington and a portion of west Farmington Hills. Meeting with constituents, like you, gives Dwyer the opportunity to communicate and help resolve and investigate issues that you bring up.  So bring your questions, issues or solutions and share them with the Commissioner, who is willing to listen.

Where:

When: Saturday from 1 - 3 p.m.

Why go: Michigan Author, Brenda Hasse, will read from her award-winning young adult book, Wilkinshire, at the Cafe on Saturday. Wilkinshire received the gold medal for the 2011 Midwest Book Award for Young Adult Fiction and the silver medal for the 2011 Moonbeam Children's Book Award for Pre-teen Fantasy. She will be available to answer any questions you may have after the session. Plus, she will sign your copies of Wilkinshire or any of the three picture books she has written.

Where:

When: Friday or Saturday at 8 p.m.

Why go: Written in 1993 by American author Neil LaBute, this play explores people's willingness to do things for love and plunges deep into the American male psyche.  It explores the dark side of the nature of intimacy and love and will leave a lasting impression. Adults will enjoy it, but the play is not recommended for children.
