WYCD Radio Host Emcees Downtown Farmington 9/11 Ceremony

The Wednesday event remembers the victims and honors the first responders of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Dr. Don Carpenter of WYCD Radio 99.5 serves as Master of Ceremonies for this year's 9/11 Patriot Day Ceremony, held Sept. 11, 6 p.m., at the Walter E. Sundquist Farmington Pavilion in downtown Farmington.

The event, hosted by American Legion Groves-Walker Post #346 of Farmington, along with the Cities of Farmington Hills and Farmington, remembers the victims and honors the first responders who risked and gave their lives after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

“After 9/11, we stood together strong and united, as Americans,” said Joel Storchan, Second Vice Commander from the American Legion Groves-Walker Post #346.  “It’s important to keep those feelings of patriotism alive today.”

Grace Newlin, 2nd Runner-Up in the 2012 Miss Farmington Pageant, will sing the National Anthem, and the ceremony will include bagpipes, bugles, and the playing of "Taps". Expected to attend are State Rep. Vicki Barnett, Oakland County Commissioner William Dwyer, Farmington and Farmington Hills Mayors and City Councils, Farmington Hills Police Chief Charles Nebus, Farmington Hills Fire Chief Corey Bartsch, Farmington Public Safety Director Robert Schulz, and a representative from Congressman Gary Peters' office.
