Auditions Slated for Farmington Hills Youth Theater Production

Young actors of all experience levels in grades 3-12 are invited to audition for the upcoming production of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz on Sunday, Jan. 29 at the in Farmington Hills.

This version of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz brings all the famous characters, music, wonder, and adventure of the original L. Frank Baum story to the stage, with Dorothy, Toto, and all their magical friends. The show is presented by the Farmington Hills Youth Theatre, in conjunction with Sky’s the Limit Productions, and is open to both residents and non-residents.

Rehearsals will run from Feb. 8 to April 25, with performances April 26-29. Leading roles require more rehearsals than supporting cast members. Actors cast in the show must pay a registration fee and attend a mandatory parent meeting from 7 - 9 p.m. on Feb. 6.

Grades 3-4 will audition from 1:30 p.m.-3 p.m.; Grades 5-7, 3 p.m.-4:30 p.m.; and Grades 8-12, 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m. Auditioning actors should bring a recent school photo. All other materials will be supplied, no preparation for the audition is necessary.

The fall production of Disney’s Aladdin, Jr. enabled over 140 children, youth and adults in two casts to take part in a fun-filled production that drew audiences from all over the area. The Farmington Hills Youth Theatre ensures that if someone is not cast in one production, they are automatically promised a part in the next play, giving everyone a chance to be involved.
