Celebrate Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

The Farmington Hills Library and the Multicultural Multiracial Community Council of Farmington/Farmington Hills have planned an all day event to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. today.

Beginning at 9:30 am a group will walk 1/3 of a mile from the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church to the Main Library.  The library will serve refreshments in their auditorium afterwards.

At 10:15 am, the East Middle School Choir will sing and local area officials will say a few words.

At 10:45 am, Margaret Mason author of These Hands will retell the story of the civil rights efforts at the Detroit Wonder Bakery.

At 11: 15 am. the audience will share stories.

At 11:30 am, Ber-Henda Williams will read poetry.

At 1 pm, Matt Watroba and Robert Jones will celebrate the diversity and music of the Civil Rights Movement through a musical program presentation.

At 2 pm, the Harrison High School Dance Company will perform.
