The Huns have invaded, and it is up to the misfit Mulan and her mischievous sidekick Mushu to save the Emperor! Disney's MULAN JR. is a heartwarming celebration of culture, honor and a fighting spirit. The score includes favorites like “Reflection,” “Honor to Us All” and “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” as well as new songs that will get your audience up on its feet!

Characters:

This list is not in order based on the importance of one character or another.

ANCESTORS: 
We are looking to cast strong performers who can carry the show.  The “Ancestors” act as narrators for the show.

Laozi – The leader of the “Ancestors” – Represents “Honor”
Lin – An “Ancestor” who is hard on Mulan – Represents “Loyalty”
Zhang – The strong and silent “Ancestor” – Represents “Strength”
Hong – An “Ancestor” who acts as Laozi’s assistant – Represents “Destiny”
Yun – Mulan's greatest advocate; mother figure type – Represents “Love”

PRINCIPLES:
Mulan – The young heroine of the story – Requires a strong, belt singing voice
Shang – A captain in the Chinese army and Mulan’s love interest
Mushu – A mischievous talking dragon – Can be played by either a girl or boy
Chi Fu – A comical, “bad guy” and Shang’s advisor
Shan Yu – The commanding leader of the Hun army - A non-singing role
Matchmaker – A funny “matchmaker” who tests Mulan
Emperor – The Emperor of China – A wise, steady leader
Yao – A “tough guy” who is enlisted in the Chinese army
Ling – A scam artist and weakling in the Chinese army
Qian Po – A sweetheart in the Chinese army who would rather eat than fight

MULAN’S FAMILY:
Fa Li – Mulan’s loving and caring mother
Grandma Fa – Mulan’s grandmother – strong comedic timing
Fa Zhou – Mulan’s overprotective, yet caring father

ENSEMBLE:
Chinese Army – Xiao, Older Yi, Younger Yi, Chen, Liu, and additional Soldiers
Hun Army – Magyar, Subar Tu, and additional Soldiers
Cheongsam Salesperson – Sells “dresses”
Villagers – Fathers, Mothers, Daughters, and Sons
Featured Dancers – Dancers features in various dances, including “Keep Em’ Guessing”
