Nardin Park Free Summer Concert Series

This series of summer concerts is free and open to the public, held in air conditioned comfort. Doors open at 7 p.m.

June 27 - Capital City Brass Band

This all-volunteer brass and percussion ensemble is inspired by the traditional British-style brass band model. Led by Bill Waterman, the CCBB presents numerous concerts each season performing classical and popular toe-tapping music. Read more at www.capitalcitybrassband.com.

July 4 - Annual Patriotic Concert

Director of Music, Melvin Rookus, has expanded this popular organ music concert by including the Nardin Park choirs, soloists, instrumentalists, handbell choirs, and bagpipers. The church is decorated, inside and out, with flowers and flags, providing a visual welcome that will stir your soul, and with music that honors our military, inspires our national spirit, and joins our voices in resounding songs.

July 11 - Double Play

Husband and wife Amy Ridings and Patrick Scianella celebrate 23 years as the world’s only full time flute/tuba duo. Now living in Farmington Hills, they travel extensively, performing the music of Bach to Broadway while including the music composed specifically for both their instruments. July 18 - The Raisin Pickers

Mark and Carol Palms, along with Dave Mosher, have evolved into a distinguished string band that draws on a vast array of traditional musical influences with a smooth, well-blended vocal focus. Read more at www.raisinpicker.com.

July 25 - The Bel Airs

Re-creating the exiting music of the early 1950’s and 1960’s, this family-friendly nine piece band with male and female lead vocalists and a three-horn piece horn section will have you reliving the early days of American Bandstand. Read more at www.cla6.com/belairs.

August 1 - Great Lakes Consort

Three classical musicians perform music to soothe your soul in the setting of a “High Tea” chamber music format. Lynne Marie Mangan (Oboe and English Horn) performs as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician throughout the United States and Canada. Matt Thomas (Trumpet) is the current principal trumpet of the Midland Symphony and has performed with the Tanglewood, Boston, Sarasota, and regional Symphonies throughout Michigan. David Enos (Organist) is Music Associate and Carillonneur at St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic Church in Bloomfield Hills.

August 8 - Live, Laugh, Love

Kathy Gibson creates a presence that can change with each song, ranging from “What the World Needs Now” to West Side Story highlights. An astounding talent returns to close our Summer Series. Learn more at www.kathywagnersings.com.
