Farmington Area Artist, Distinguished Service to the Arts Nominees Sought

Applications for the 2012 Artist-in-Residence and Distinguished Service to the Arts awards close March 12.

The Farmington Area Arts Commission is accepting applications until March 12 for the Farmington Area 2012 Artist-in-Residence and Distinguished Service to the Arts awards.

Last year’s honorees were (Artist-in-Residence) and (Distinguished Service to the Arts).

Each year since 1976, the commission has recognized outstanding residents in visual art, drama, dance, literature, music, photography, film or music. To qualify, the Artist-in-Residence must currently reside in Farmington or Farmington Hills. The awardee will receive a plaque at a reception in their honor, held as part of the Artist Awards Ceremony on April 19 at the Costick Center.

The Distinguished Service to the Arts Award recognizes outstanding service to the community in the arts. Groups, organizations, businesses or individuals receive this award for support, promotion, management or teaching of the arts and will also be honored with a plaque at the Artist Awards Ceremony.

Nomination forms should be accompanied by a complete package including samples, publicity clippings, resume and other information to ensure that the candidate’s efforts receive substantial representation. Visual and performing artists should submit a CD or DVD of their work. Previously nominated candidates are encouraged to re-apply; however, previous award winners are not eligible.
