Farmington Community Concert Band Performs in Heritage Park Thursday

The large ensemble's program includes a variety of classical and popular compositions.

The Farmington Community Concert Band performs Thursday as part of the “Stars in the Park” free summer concert series at Heritage Park in Farmington Hills.

The Concert Band is the largest ensemble of musicians from the Farmington Community Band (FCB), which draws members from both Farmington and Farmington Hills, as well as the surrounding area. Under the direction of Damien Crutcher, the Concert Band will perform a wide variety of both classical and popular pieces.

Founded in 1966 as the six-member Farmington Civic Band, the FCB has grown to encompass the 80-plus member Concert Band, 20-piece Big Band, Clarinet Choir, Dixieland Band, Flute Ensemble, and several other small ensembles.  The FCB is a non-profit organization sponsored by individual, business, and corporate patronage as well as grants from corporations.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. at the amphitheater in Heritage Park, 24915 Farmington Road, just south of 11 Mile in Farmington Hills. In case of rain, it will be held at the Costick Center, located three miles east of Heritage Park on 11 Mile Road.
