Farmington Hills Teen Wins Ticket to American Idol Competition

Jena Asciutto wowed the judges with her rendition of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep".

Farmington Hills resident Jena Asciutto is going to Hollywood as a contestant on the FOX network's hit talent show American Idol.

A 17-year-old student at North Farmington High School, Asciutto wowed the judges during the Detroit auditions, which aired Wednesday night, with her version of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep".
"This is what I like, when we hear a song that we know so well, and you don't sing it anything like the singer," judge Jennifer Lopez said. "That to me is always a good sign."

Asciutto formerly fronted the band Infinity Hour, which broke up in February, 2013, after she left. She performed in the 2014 North Farmington High Coffee House, a student showcase held earlier this month.
