Farmington Hills Youth Theatre Swings with 'Tarzan' Nov. 15

Two large casts of adults and children will present five performances at the Costick Center.

The City of Farmington Hills Youth Theatre's production of TARZAN The Stage Musical will be on stage Nov. 15-24 at the Costick Center in Farmington Hills.

“We are thrilled to present this special adaptation of the classic story of Tarzan,” said Melinda Sheatzley, Youth Theatre Director. “This play is a full-fledged Broadway production, filled with fascinating characters and a beautiful score with music and lyrics by Phil Collins.”

Two large casts of both children and adults perform in the show, which is based on Disney’s 1999 animated film. The heartwarming story begins when a human baby is orphaned on the shores of West Africa. Taken in and raised by a tribe of gorillas, young Tarzan's life changes forever when a human expedition enters their world.

“The script deals with the issues of differences, peer pressure and family love with sensitivity and understanding,” said Rachel Timlin, Cultural Arts Coordinator for the City of Farmington Hills. “It’s truly a gorgeous play that appeals to all ages."

There will be five performances, and tickets are $10. Children 3 and under are admitted free of charge. Discounted rates for groups of 10 or more are available. Tickets may be purchased at the door or online at https://recreg.fhgov.com or charged over the phone at 248-473-1848.
