Farmington Hills-Based Chamber Music Society Celebrates 70 Years

The 2013-2014 season includes performances at Oakland University's Varner Hall.

The Emerson String Quartet and violinist Pinchas Zukerman will help celebrate the Chamber Music Society of Detroit's 70th anniversary season.

In addition to its nine-concert Signature Chamber Series, the Farmington Hills-based Society will introduce a Sunday Recital Series on three Sundays at 3 p.m. Both series take place at Seligman Performing Arts Center, located at 22305 West 13 Mile Road (at the corner of Lahser Road), Beverly Hills, on the campus of the Detroit Country Day School. Subscription and single ticket prices, which were reduced last season, will remain the same in 2013-2014.

In addition to the two main series, the inDepth Series returns with six artists and ensembles in informal concert formats with eclectic programming. The Society will partner with Music Hall to present four of the six events, two on the main stage and two in the Jazz Café.

The Chamber Music Society of Detroit is also launching a new four-concert series at Oakland University’s Varner Hall, in partnership with OU’s Department of Music, Theatre and Dance. The series will feature artists and ensembles of national and international distinction at affordable prices both for community members and University faculty and students.

Tickets for all concerts may be purchased by phone at 248-855-6070 or online through the Chamber Music Society of Detroit web site at www.ChamberMusicDetroit.org.
