Hilarious Holiday Show "Greetings!" is Two Muses' Latest Production

The interdenominational holiday production, directed by Farmington Hills resident Barbie Weisserman, opens Nov. 23 in West Bloomfield.

Two Muses Theatre's latest production, a warm, yet hilarious interdenominational holiday show, opens Nov. 23 inside Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 6800 Orchard Lake Rd. in West Bloomfield.

The Los Angeles Times described Greetings!, by Tom Dudzick, as “a wonderful, wacky look at how cleverly a mixture of Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Age philosophy can – in the right hands – flick on the electricity.” In this comedy, Andy Gorski (Stephen Blackwell) has a loving mother (Jan Cartwright), a very special brother (Richard Payton), a crabby Catholic father (Henry Nelson) and an atheist Jewish fiancée (Angela Kay Miller). When he brings his fiancée home for Christmas, it incites an entertaining, domestic brawl about religious differences. But just when tempers begin to flare, miracles begin to occur.

Diane Hill, Two Muses co-founder and Farmington Hills resident, said Greetings! is an unusual script for the holidays.

"It’s got all the great one-liners of a hilarious comedy, it’s got the warmth of Frank Capra family movie, and it’s got a twist that the audience won’t see coming, but they will definitely leave the theater talking about," she said.

Director and Two Muses co-founder Barbie Weisserman, also of Farmington Hills, said, “I wanted to direct this play not only because it’s interdenominational, but because when I read it, it made me laugh; it made me cry; and it gave me tingles all at the same time. And now as we’re rehearsing it, this cast is really breathing life into the characters and believable family dynamics, and it’s making me laugh, cry and get tingles all over again.”
