A West Bloomfield native who currently lives in Florida, Sam Woolf, was voted off the show last week.

Asciutto, who performs under the name of Jena Irene on the FOX reality series, joins Caleb Johnson, Alex Preston, and Jessica Meuse  as finalists hoping to win the big prize – a $350,000 recording contract – in the May 21 finale.

Right now, Jena Irene appears to be in a strong position to win the competition. She is already matched with another Michigan native, Westland country singer Josh Gracin, for her endurance in the 13-year run of “American Idol,” according to the Detroit Free Press.
