'Murder by Poe' Offers a Scary Good Time

A Farmington Hills resident is in the cast of the Barefoot Productions season opener featuring the greatest hits of Edgar Allan Poe.

Farmington Hills resident Lauren Berryman is in the cast of Barefoot Productions 2013-14 season opener, "Murder by Poe", which opens Oct. 11 in Plymouth.

Written by Jeffery Hatcher and directed by Barefoot Productions Artistic Director, Craig Hane, the show will take the audience to a haunted house where the stories of famed mystery and suspense auther, Edgar Allan Poe, will come to life - and death - before their eyes.

When a young woman, played by Samantha Lowry of Novi, loses her way on a dark and stormy night, she encounters the mysterious Usher (he of the infamous house), who introduces her to the protagonists of six of Poe’s best-known stories.

Fans of “The Raven” will not be disappointed, as Michael Corliss  of Livonia opens the show with a reading of Poe’s most famous work. Richard Pientak  of Canton and Terry A. Vivani of Westland will accompany him with “Lenore” and “Annabel Lee”, respectively, before all three perform the poem “The Bells”.

In addition to Berryman, the cast also includes Brian Plater of Plymouth, Mathew DeLisle of Canton, Jonathon and Stacy Wennstrom of Canton, Eric Corliss of Canton, Beth Duey of Northville and Gary Turnquist  of Plymouth.

"Murder by Poe" opens Oct. 11 and runs for two weekends only. Performance dates are Oct. 11-12 and Oct. 18-19 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 13 and Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $15, except for Oct. 12. Tickets for that performance cost $20 and will include an Afterglow Reception immediately following the show. Audience members can meet the cast and crew and refreshments will be provided by the Grecian Cafe.
