Rain Steers Clear for The Luddites

Rhythmz in Riley Park in downtown Farmington drew a smaller than usual crowd Friday.

Billed at the world's loudest acoustic band, The Luddites lived up to their promise Friday night, as Rhythmz in Riley Park went on despite cool, windy weather.

The weekly downtown Farmington music series' usual venue during inclement weather, , wasn't available. But the rain steered clear of the , and The Luddites played a full set.

The Ferndale-based band was short its usual complement of 11 members; eight performing members were lead vocalist Lisa Goedert and Rob Goedert on guitar and accordion, both of Ferndale, Dave Giovannucci of Toledo (originally from Grosse Pointe) on bass, drummer Stuart Tucker of Hamtramck, Ralph Koziarski and George Schuster on saxophone, Ken Talbot on lead guitar and Bee Bop, a well-known Detroit musician, on percussion.

The Luddites' next gig is July 13, when they'll open for Red Elvis at J's Lagerhouse in Detroit. To keep up with their schedule, "Like" them on Facebook or visit their website.
