See Farmington Idol Winner at Mentobe Café

Nick Trevisan, winner in the 8-14 age category, performs at Mentobe Café.

Nick Trevisan stood on stage at the Walter E. Sundquist Farmington Pavilion in downtown Farmington July 19, ready to take another shot at the annual Farmington Idol competition after an unsuccessful bid in 2010.

As he launched into a rendition of Of Monsters and Men's "Little Talks", Nick said, he felt confident playing a song he really enjoys. "It showcases my guitar and vocals," he said. "It's a song people know and enjoy."

The performance earned him top honors in the annual competition's 8-14 year old category. And while that was exciting, Nick said, his goal is "to put on the best performance I can."

The East Middle School student started playing piano at a "very young" age, then picked up the guitar five years ago. "I found I had a little bit of a knack for it,"  he said.

His mother, Suzanne, and father, Roger, are not musically inclined, and his sister Maddy's talents lie in the sports arena. "I do come from a musical extended family," Nick said.

After designing his own website, he also started a web design business and counts a Farmington High sports team among his clients. And while he plans to pursue a career in information systems, music is his first love.

"My favorite thing about music definitely is being able to go on stage and perform," Nick said. "I love to be able to share my music and with people over with my music."

He'll entertain an audience at Mentobe Café in downtown Farmington on Aug. 15. The show starts at 7 p.m.
