See 'Hamlet' Excerpts Thursday at OCC Orchard Ridge in Farmington Hills

The 10 a.m. performance with theater faculty provide a deeper understanding of 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, which opens the same day.

As a prelude to performances of the Oakland Community College (OCC) theatre program’s production of Tom Stoppard’s , an edited version of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet will be presented at the Smith Theatre on Thursday, March 22, 10 a.m.-noon.

OCC English Department faculty member John Mitchell and Theatre Program faculty member Dennis North, who directed Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, will host the event. Admission is free, and the public is invited.

Full-time and adjunct members of the OCC theatre faculty will read and perform the roles, with occasional interjections by Mitchell to discuss the historical setting and major themes of Hamlet – an excellent way for audiences to gain a deeper understanding of both Rosencrantz and Guildenstern and Hamlet, from which it is derived.
