Shining Star Productions Presents Improv Show at Farmington Civic

The Nov. 5 performance combines a classic mystery with the unexpected world of improv.

Shining Star Performing Arts Academy invites you to explore the world of improvisational theatre with Payton's Price, a classic “who done it” mystery at the Farmington Civic Theater on Nov. 5.

Cordelia Dessert, Farmington Hills resident and owner of Shining Star Performing Arts Academy, describes the show this way: “Payton's Price is a classic murder mystery with an improv twist. Directed by Lukesa, this show tells of six people trapped in a mansion by the owner, Mr. Payton, after a valuable coin of his goes missing. When Mr. Payton turns up dead, his guests are left to not only find the culprit, but a way out! Throw in a wacky group of characters and a sprinkle of improvisation and this show will have you laughing non-stop until the mystery is solved.”

Payton's Price is an original production written by Tabitha DuFour, Michigan resident, actress and author. She was inspired by House on Haunted Hill, a movie starring Vincent Price, and the board game “Clue.” This performance will be the show's official debut.

Tickets are only $10 and are available for purchase at Shiningsproductions.com or thirty minutes before each performance.

“This show is unlike anything else you've ever seen,” director Lukesa said. “I had in mind of mixing a scripted performance with improv after seeing that Drew Carey, on his live show, has only done it a few times and nobody has ever duplicated the idea. I love improv and wanted to share my passion for this theatrical form with the residents of Michigan. You simply don't see improv enough.”

Cast members include: Mr. Payton - Robby Bristol, Dr. Heel - Christian Broughton, Oliver Kay - Andrew Neil, Katie Shore - Laurie Perrin, Mr. Williams - Brian Fisher, Mrs. Williams - Fisher White, and Miss Young - Lydia Goulet.
