Still Time to Support Breast Cancer Research in Farmington and Farmington Hills

As National Breast Cancer Awareness Month draws to a close, you can donate to the cause at these local businesses.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month ends Wednesday, along with several charity drives for breast cancer research at Farmington area businesses:

Kroger Pink Ribbons

Customers at the Farmington Hills Kroger stores located at 25780 Middlebelt Rd. and 37550 W. 12 Mile Rd. may purchase a pink ribbon for $1 or make a coin box donation to benefit breast cancer awareness and research. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute

Pink Pumpkins

The Pink Pumpkin Patch Foundation, a nonprofit organization that funds breast cancer research, is working with major retailers this month to raise money for breast cancer research through the sale of special pink-skinned pumpkins. Participating retailers include Kroger and Home Depot, which both have locations in Farmington Hills.

Panera Pink Ribbon Bagels

Sold at Panera Bakery Cafes in Farmington and Farmington Hills in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the signature bagel has raised more than $1.25 million for breast cancer charities nationwide. In participating Panera bakery-cafes in the metro Detroit-area, funds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

Emerald City Designs floral arrangement 

The Shades of Pink organization, a non-profit that provides temporary financial assistance to breast cancer patients, is partnering with Farmington Hills-based Emerald City Designs to raise funds through a special floral arrangement in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Foundation. The flowers can be ordered at thepoppyshoppes.com.

Hungry Howie's pink pizza boxes

Hungry Howie’s Pizza locations are joining the fight against breast cancer. All pizzas will be served in bright pink boxes and Hungry Howie’s will make a donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. for every pizza sold. Customers can also add a donation to their order. There are three Hungry Howie's locations in Farmington and Farmington Hills:

  • 35103 Grand River

Valvoline Wipe Out Breast Cancer drive

Pick up your pink (or black with pink ribbon) wiper blades at Valvoline Instant Oil Change on Grand River in Farmington. Proceeds support the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
