Bid, Walk with Canine College to Help Animals in Need

The Farmington Hills business aims to raise $10,000 for the Michigan Humane Society.

A Farmington Hills dog day care business has launched an online auction to help raise $10,000 for the Michigan Humane Society.

Canine College, located on Research Drive, this year continues its corporate partnership with the Michigan Humane Society and is sponsoring the 2013 Mega March for Animals, held at Kensington Metropark or Stony Creek Metropark on Oct. 6 and Hart Plaza in Detroit on Oct. 13.

The Mega March is a two-mile fundraising walk (shorter routes are available at each location) that is open to everyone, with or without pets.

Anyone can join the Canine College team; registration will be held Aug. 7, 4 p.m.-6:30 p.m. MHS representatives will give a “goodie bag” to those who register and make a donation of $25 or more that day.

This year's Silent Auction has more than 60 donated items up for bids through Aug. 31.

Among the auction items available to the public are:

  • a Detroit Red Wing Jimmy Howard jersey signed by the entire team
  • a signed Pavel Datsyuk jersey
  • a hockey stick signed by Patrick Eaves
  • a hockey puck signed by Tomas Holmstom
  • a Hockeytown Poster signed by 2010 team
  • iPad Mini
  • gift certificates for restaurant, legal services, spas and salons

Items can be seen in the lobby of Canine College, 23717 Research Drive, or by visiting http://caninecollegemi.com/2592/silent-auction-for-mhs/.
