Botsford Cuts Ribbon on Family Practice, Rehab Clinics Friday

Family practice and rehab clinics are now located in the south Professional Center on the hospital's Farmington Hills campus.

Botsford Hospital, City of Farmington Hills and Greater Farmington Area Chamber officials on Friday cut ribbons to open two new clinics in the south Professional Center of the hospital's Farmington Hills campus.

Farmington Village Family Practice-East and the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center are located on the building's third and second floors, respectively.

The family practice clinic, Botsford Health Care President and CEO Dr. Paul E. LaCasse said, shows the hospital's "real commitment to primary family care". He said health care changes coming in 2014 make having a family practice physician even more important.

"We're excited to be here, we're excited to be in this geographic location," he said, "because there is a paucity of primary care physicians."

In addition to providing care, the clinic will train resident doctors. "That is something we feel we do really well on this campus," LaCasse said.

The rehab department brings together two clinics that were in other locations, to make it easier for patients to get the care they need, LaCasse said.

"It is a true integration of the practices ... a one-stop shop," said Dr. Narendra Kumar, the hospital's director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. "So far, we are hearing excellent feedback from (patients)."
