Brief Shower Doesn't Dampen Spirits for The BackBeats

Rhythmz in Riley Park welcomes a top Beatles tribute band.

The BackBeats, a Detroit-based Beatles tribute band, had the crowd at Rhythmz in Riley Park in downtown Farmington on their feet by the end of Friday night's concert.

Eli Echevarria as John, John Manier as Paul, Doug Couture as George, and Dan Cannon as Ringo took the Walter E. Sundquist Farmington Pavilion "stage" shortly after a five-minute rain shower sent concert-goers scrambling for shelter. But the clouds quickly passed and temperatures dropped into the comfortable range, after daytime highs in the 90s.

Kids who generally gather on the brick apron in front of the pavilion were joined by a number of adults, and Mrs. Quacker, the mascot for LOC Federal Credit Union's "Quackers Club." Beth Cooke, who represented LOC, said young people up to age 12 can join the club, which teaches them to save "for a rainy day."

Not suprisingly, the group performs next at the official Paul McCartney concert pre-show at the Elwood Bar & Grill in Detroit, across the street from Comerica Park, the concert venue, on July 24. To keep up with The BackBeats, visit their website, thebackbeats.com
