Cheap Eats: Two Entrees Plus App at Grand Tavern
The Farmington Hills restaurant offers a Saturday deal, with drink purchase.
A Farmington-Farmington Hills Patch reader spotted today's Cheap Eats deal at and emailed a photo of a promotional poster for their 2 for $20 deal on Saturdays.
I've been going to the restaurant at Drake and Grand River since it was an Applebee's and am a big fan of their home-made potato chips. Sandwiches and burgers were the extent of my experience with the menu, until last night.
Because if there's a deal to be had at a Farmington or Farmington Hills restaurant, I've got to give it a look-see. Here's what we found at:

Grand Tavern
Deal: 2 for $20 Saturdays
Cost: $20 plus the cost of two drinks (soft drinks allowed, they're $2.29 each)

What you get: The deal includes an appetizer and two entrees. There are some limitations: A drink purchase is required for each person, appetizers are limited to those $7.99 or less and entrees are limited to those $12.99 or less. It cut the app menu down to size, but still left plenty of variety on the menu.
Bill for two diners: $27.62, tax included ($8.57 discount)
The bar/restaurant's atmosphere is relaxed, and the meals are generous. We started with loaded potato boats, which were nice and crispy, with plenty of cheese and bacon. My Asian skewers, ginger-spiced chicken and peppers on a skewer with generous helpings of crisp veggies and rice, came with soup or salad. My husband's Juan's chimichanga, was topped with a chipotle cream sauce, perfectly spiced, and served with rice and fresh pico de gallo.
If you're looking for a place to start your date night, this Grand Tavern deal is a nice, moderately priced choice.
