Check Your Refrigerator Shelves for Recalled Kroger Spinach

The grocery store chain asks customers in 15 states to return the product, because of possible listeria contamination.

The Kroger Co. is asking all Michigan customers, and those in 14 other states, to check their refrigerators for certain Kroger Fresh Selections Tender Spinach 10-ounce packages, which are being recalled due to possible listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Pregnant women or people with weakened immune systems could suffer severe illness after eating listeria monocytogenes.

According to an alert issued by the Food and Drug Administration, the product is supplied by NewStar Fresh Foods LLC, has UPC code 0001111091649 and a "best if used by" date of Sept. 16. Any opened or unopened products should not be consumed and should be returned by customers to their local Kroger store for a full refund or replacement.

Other states included in the recall are Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina and central and eastern Tennessee.

In the recall notice, Kroger indicated that it has removed affected items from store shelves and initiated its customer recall notification system. Customers who may have purchased the affected products will receive register receipt messages and/or automated phone calls. Kroger is also placing signs in stores in produce departments.

Customers with additional questions can contact 1-800-KROGERS or visit www.kroger.com/recall

I don't know what to "click" on to find the garage sales. They used to be "rightRead More there" when I opened the Patch email everyday. I am assuming they are now listed under something else and I guess I need instructions as to where to find it and what to click on to get to them. thanks

Grama, in addition to our Thursday map, you can click on the Events link at the top of the page, andRead More along the left side, you'll see "Garage Sales". Just click on that, and you'll see all the listings. They should be among the events in our newsletter, too. Hope that helps!
