Bob Rock, owner of and lifelong Farmington resident, will head up the (DDA) board again this year. He was re-elected March 28.
Rock joins returning vice-president Steve Schneemann of , and secretary Dan Higgins, owner of Visibles Marketing.
Rock was appointed to the DDA in 2007. In his leadership role, he continues to work toward improving communications and encouraging volunteerism, DDA executive director Annette Knowles said.
“Bob and his executive team are our all-stars. Their careful guidance and leadership are keeping us focused and headed in a positive direction," she said.
With the Grand River Avenue streetscape completed and an active calendar of events in place, Rock said his goals are to help businesses succeed by attracting more people to downtown Farmington, to market the downtown as an opportunity for new businesses and to expand the volunteer base to support the DDA’s Main Street program.
“We need to be sensitive to what is going on in our town,” Rock said. “We are working to partner with our businesses, help our businesses expand and help them to begin the kinds of initiatives that they otherwise cannot afford to launch. We would like to share DDA resources with the community to strengthen partnerships with businesses that are struggling or those that have ideas they are unable to act upon.”
