Detroit Prime, Matt Prentice Restaurant in Farmington Hills, Closes

Prentice's Morels restaurant, located next door, remains open.

One of two Matt Prentice restaurants opened last year on Northwestern Highway in Farmington Hills has closed its doors.

Detroit Prime shut its doors on Saturday, according to a Detroit Free Press report. The restaurant opened just six months ago, next door to Morels, a Michigan-themed restaurant that remains open.

Marcy Hayes, a spokeswoman for Matt Prentice: A Culinary Experience, told the newspaper that Detroit Prime's weekday business was slow, and that he decided to cut his losses "so he can focus on what is profitable and what is going well." She also cited legal fees in an on-going court battle with the owner of Prentice’s former business.
