The Downtown Farmington shop local promotion generated more than $87,000 in business for local merchants.

The Farmington Downtown Development Authority's annual Wish List Window contest ended Dec. 16, generating $87,500 worth of business for local merchants and leaving 13 downtown Farmington shoppers a little richer.

The 2013 Wish List Window winners, whose names were drawn at random, are: Amar Almaklani of Dearborn; Mary Burck, Frankie DeBasco, Tim Siegrist, Susan Erickson, Debbie Rock and Marly Theobald of Farmington/Farmington Hills; Charles Haapala, Jan Powers and Chris Weak of Livonia; Natalie Paul of Novi; Jamie Thomas of Detroit and Karen Shadle of Wauseon, Ohio.

Eligible shoppers spent at least $100 during the contest period, recorded on cards distributed by participating merchants. Last year’s contest generated $84,000 in local shopping.

“I think it’s a great promotion, and it brings in business for us," said Eve Cinato of Village Shoe Inn. "Customers loved it, and we had a good turnout. Having multiple prize winners definitely increases its appeal. People were anxious to view the window to see what they might win.”

“The annual Wish List Window is a good community program,” said Mike Mazzoni of M. Mazzoni Jewelers. “I think it brought in customers and helped business. We certainly will participate again next year!”
