Downtown Farmington’s Merle Norman Expands to Wig Studio and Day Spa

The long-time Farmington cosmetic studio has added a few more services.

Located in the Downtown Farmington Center, the has been assisting residents in all things cosmetic for 41 years.

While the store staff does make up, consultations, and makeovers, Merle Norman recently expanded and added a private wig studio, as well as a day spa.

Karen Gara, owner of Farmington’s Merle Norman for nine years, has long hoped for the opportunity to expand. Last month, she was able to grow into the space next door.

“We needed a nice, big, private studio,” Gara said.

Merle Norman cosmetics was founded in 1931, and all products are made in the U.S. Over the years, the downtown Farmington store's offerings have expanded to include manicures, pedicures, full body waxing, facials and a retail shop offering clothing and other items, in addition to the wig studio.

The store's growth has given Merle Norman a boost in business and a growing clientele.

“I love having my business in Downtown Farmington,” Gara said. “It’s a great community and the customers are very loyal and supportive.”
