Farmington Hills Gluten-Free Eateries Honored and More Restaurant News

Peterlin's Restaurant & Bar in Farmington and Buddy's Pizza in Farmington Hills: The North Carolina-based website gfreek.com recently recognized the two eateries for their gluten-free offerings. Peterlin's was named best Detroit gluten-free bar or pub and the Farmington Hills-based pizza chain was named best gluten-free local restaurant.

Restaurant Week in Birmingham: The eighth annual event, which was held in late January and early February, raised nearly $4,000 for Forgotten Harvest. Chefs from 20 restaurants created special, three-course menus for lunch and dinner costing $15 and $30, respectively, during Birmingham Restaurant Week.

Bagger Dave's in Berkley: Diners at the Metro Detroit burger chain can participate in the Children’s Leukemia Foundation of Michigan’s 2013 Hearts of Hope campaign during the month of February. Money raised through the sale of $1 pin-up hearts at the burger chain's Michigan locations – including Ann Arbor, Berkley, Bloomfield Township, Brighton, Cascade Township, East Lansing, Grand Rapids, Holland, Novi and Shelby Township – will be used to help support families dealing with blood diseases.

Paint Creek Cider Mill in Oakland Township: The cafe, which is closed for the season, will reopen March 1 with a new vintage look, a fresh menu and year-round hours. Proprietor Ed Granchi said he plans to add at least two hand-crafted sodas to the revamped pizza and lunch menu. Cider and doughnuts, as tradition dictates, will be mainstays in the fall.
