Farmington Hills Marriott to Lose National Affiliation in Mid-March
The Courtyard Detroit Farmington Hills remains in litigation with the national company.
A spokesperson for Marriott hotels has confirmed that the Courtyard Detroit Farmington Hills hotel will lose its affiliation with the national chain in mid-March.
No other details were provided about on-going litigation between Marriott and 31525 W 12 Miles RD MI LLC, referred to as lender and mortgagee, scheduled for trial in November.
Court documents obtained by Farmington-Farmington Hills Patch show 31525 W 12 Miles RD MI LLC, referred to as lender and mortgagee, filed suit against Marriott, Inc. Dec. 4, 2012 in Oakland County Circuit Court to retain the national franchise affiliation, after a change in ownership following foreclosure.

The complaint alleges that Marriott refuses to recognize the rights of the hotel's new owner to continue operating as a Marriott franchise. In early February, Crain's Detroit reported that the franchise affiliation had been extended for six months.
Potential hotel guests will not be able to reserve rooms through Marriott's national website after the chain affiliation is officially withdrawn. The company spokesperson did not indicate the exact date that will occur.

Another hearing on the case is scheduled in front of Oakland County Sixth Circuit Court Judge Wendy Potts on March 6.
