Tim Alexander grew up at the corner of 14 Mile and Drake Road, working in his family's Hazel Park hardware store.

On Thursday, the North Farmington High graduate celebrated the grand opening of his own business, Alexander True Value hardware store, in the Farmington Crossroads shopping center at Farmington and Nine Mile Roads.

"I love the plaza and the people," Alexander said. "It had all the ingredients for what I thought would be a successful area."

The store, located next door to Ollie's Outlet, which opened earlier this year, will initially be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Hours may be adjusted based on the seasons and customer needs, Alexander said.

In addition to traditional hardware stock, the store offers services like screen repairs, key cutting and re-keying locks. Alexander said there is a "no pointing" rule, meaning staffers will help customers find whatever they need.

"We strive to make everyone who comes in here happy," Alexander said.
I appreciate good service and true value and wish this new Main Street business owner the best. I hope that Farmington residents will think twice before heading out to Home Depot where at best... you are treated like dirt. GOOD LUCK!! :-)
