The Apple Store at Novi's Twelve Oaks Mall opened early Friday morning, before most other stores, for eager customers.

>>See iPhone fan Adonis Versachi, of Farmington, share why he chose to wait hours in line for the new phone in the video above.

"I'm a fool," he said before adding, "I'm just here to upgrade."

The iPhone 5c and the iPhone 5s are the latest Apple products. The 5c comes in several colors like blue, green, yellow and pink. The 5s is available in black, gold and silver. Beyond aesthetics, the phone sports new hi-tech features.

"You can bump two phones together for sharing data," said Bill Bendetti, director of sales for AT&T.

That makes it easier for people to share content, like pictures, instantly. The 5s also has a fingerprint scanner on the home screen for unlocking and locking the device and a faster router. These features were enough to get people to the AT&T store on Novi Road by 4 a.m. Friday, he said.

"There were some people lined up last night," he said about AT&T's other stores.

Phones are updated constantly and many want the latest models as soon as they're a available. AT&T has a way to meet the needs of those customers with its "Next" program, Bendetti said.

"For a small monthly payment, people can get a new phone every 12 months," he said.

With the rate that technology changes, perhaps those who bought the new iPhones Friday morning will be scrambling for a new product this time next year.
