‘Here Comes The Sun’ in Downtown Farmington

Rhythmz in Riley Park Honors the Beatles with Fab Fridays

As the weather gets warmer and summer quickly approaches, Farmington residents are gearing up for their annual event, “Rhythmz in Riley Park.” Hosted by the Farmington Downtown Development Authority, the event is a series of Friday night concerts in Riley Park starting June 13.

“The series will feature live performances with a get-up-on-your-feet and dance atmosphere,” said Annette Knowles, the development authority’s executive director.

Renamed “Rhythmz Riley” in 2007, Knowles said the authority “wanted to change the tone of the series, liven it up and make it more invigorating and interactive.”

This year marks the 50th anniversary for the Beatles coming to America. The Beatles flew from London to New York City as the nation’s No. 1 group on Feb. 7, 1964. In celebration of the Beatles and the band’s undeniable contribution to American culture, this year Rhythmz in Riley Park presents “Fab Fridays” in the band’s honor.

Each week, performers will include their interpretation of at least one Beatles’ song. This year’s showcase also includes Beatles tribute band “Dig A Phony.” The concerts will take place in downtown Farmington and are sponsored by local businesses such as Farmington Insurance Agency and Goldfish Swim School.

“We want to get your weekend off on the right foot, bring a blanket, grab some dinner and come have a good time,” Knowles said.
