JR3's Beertown Closes its Doors in Farmington

The party store quietly shut down operations last week.

JR3's Beer Town, a Farmington party store that opened in January east of Power Rd. on Grand River, has quietly closed its doors.

In a Facebook post, store owners said they closed because "the business was just not there."

Owned by the Roehrig family, JR3's struggled initially, because the store did not have a liquor license, . When the license arrived in April, the store was able to start selling craft beer and wine, along with party store staples.

JR3's created a variety of promotions in recent months to draw shoppers, including a Memorial Day barbecue. Owners gave away pizza, water and candy during the Farmington Area Founders Festival in July, in addition to having an entry in Saturday's parade, which drew thousands of people to the area.

The company's Wayne location, at 4502 S. Wayne Rd., remains open, and is undergoing a remodel, according to the store's Facebook page.
