The two chambers serve more than 1,400 members and Michigan’s ninth and tenth largest cities. They teamed to hold two high-profile luncheons last year, featuring Michigan Governor Rick Snyder in March and county executives L. Brooks Patterson and Robert Ficano in November.

“We are honored that Governor Romney accepted our invitation to speak at an event for our two chambers,” said Mary Engelman, Greater Farmington Area Chamber of Commerce executive director. “It is a great opportunity to have a candidate for President of the United States visiting our backyard.”

Dan West, president of the Livonia Chamber of Commerce, said this program is designed to be an informative business luncheon and not a campaign rally. “We extended invitations to political leaders of both parties,” West said. “We are driven to respond to our chamber members who want information from policy makers.”

West and Engelman added both chambers are non-partisan organizations that promote their business communities. They said they plan to send an invitation to the White House welcoming President Barack Obama to speak at a joint luncheon for the two chambers.
