Kraft Recalls Velveeta Cheese Sold at Walmart Stores in Michigan

About 260 cases of the pasteurized cheese product have been recalled because they may lack the proper amount of preservatives and could prematurely spoil or cause food-borne illnesses.

Kraft Foods announced a recall of Velveeta cheese product shipped to Walmart stores in 12 mostly Midwest states, including Michigan.

The cheese product lacks the proper amount of preservatives, the Associated Press reports in a story on ABC News.

About 260 cases of the Velveeta original pasteurized recipe cheese product are affected. Insufficient levels or sorbic acid could cause premature spoilage or food-borne illnesses.

Other affected states are Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
