Neighborhood Shop: BonaVenture Offers Holiday Break Fun

In less than two weeks, kids of all ages will be on holiday break, and so will begin the daily quest for “something to do.”

in Farmington Hills is a haven for parents who are looking to keep their kids and even themselves occupied and entertained during school breaks, on weekends, or just anytime they feel like donning their skates and going for a spin.

Located at 24505 Halsted Road, the center has been a part of the community since 1976. Owned by the Jackson family, who purchased it in 2002, BonaVenture is a place where kids and adults can learn to skate, practice their sport or simply hang out and have fun.

“We are affordable family fun,” said Christie Catterall, BonaVenture’s general manager. “I think skating has become a pastime. Now kids that used to do it are bringing their kids.”

The facility offers five rinks, an arcade, skating lessons taught by certified teachers, and a “Snack ‘n Chat,” where people can just relax, get some snacks and enjoy good company.

Anyone can have a good time at BonaVenture – preschoolers as well as adults. It is also a place where parents can rent the rink for their children’s birthdays, family gatherings or company parties.

Die-hard skaters can also shop at the BonaVenture Pro Shop for a complete line of skates and in-line skates for all ages.

The center is open Monday-Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m.
